Maintenance: extend the life of your investment

At InterfaceFLOR we understand the importance of carrying out routine maintenance to ensure your carpet remains looking as good as the day it was laid.

Accidents happen! Modular flooring, by its very nature, enables you to simply replace individual damaged or worn tiles with new, with the minimum disruption and cost – far easier than with wood or broadloom floor coverings which would require total replacement.

Poorly maintained carpet can adversely affect a facility’s image, reduce product performance and accelerate the need for replacement; different areas within any interior are subject to a variety of uses and thereby foot traffic; each area demands an appropriate level of maintenance and care. The implementation of a routine carpet maintenance programme preserves, maintains and extends the life of any carpet investment, making restorative cleaning unnecessary.

Maintaining a carpet’s appearance means more than choosing the correct cleaning method. Selecting the right products from the start contributes greatly to the overall performance of the floorcovering. We will work with you to choose the best floorcovering and maintenance plan for your facility’s needs. We assess the building layout, traffic patterns and hours of operation; then we develop recommendations for routine preventative care.

Areas that will need to be taken into consideration include:

  • Suitable barrier matting to prevent soil from reaching the carpet.
  • An effective vacuum cleaning programme.
  • Pile lifting – for lifting crushed pile and loosening dry soil.
  • Spot & stain cleaning – advice on the best solution for specific problems, e.g. chewing gum, coffee, oils, etc.
  • Cleaning methods – dry extraction, crystalline shampoo, bonnet cleaning, hot water extraction, etc.
  • Floor care solutions & products
  • Maintenance equipment.

At InterfaceFLOR we can discuss and demonstrate cleaning and maintenance methods with you; we will then refer you to manufacturers of suitable machines and cleaning chemicals who will provide you with lists of contractors that are able to carry out a survey of your requirements and provide you with a quotation for carrying out the work.
